Proxicast is pleased to announce the immediate availability of a new firmware release for the LAN-Cell 2 3G Cellular Router.

Firmware version 4.02(AQP.2)_0310 adds support for several new high-performance 3G modem cards including the Sprint EX720, Verizon V740, AT&T 881 and the Alltel EC360. The following modem cards are now supported:

• Novatel / Sprint EX720 (EV-DO RevA, EV-DO Rev0, 1xRTT) *
• Novatel / Verizon V740 (EV-DO RevA, EV-DO Rev0, 1xRTT) *
• Huawei EC360 (EV-DO RevA, EV-DO Rev0, 1xRTT)
• Huawei EC500 (EV-DO RevA, EV-DO Rev0, 1xRTT)
• Sierra Wireless Aircard 880 / 881 (HSUPA, HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE, GPRS)
• Sierra Wireless Aircard 875 (HSUPA, HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE, GPRS)
• Sierra Wireless Aircard 860 (HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE, GPRS)
• Sierra Wireless Aircard 850 (HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE, GPRS)
• Sierra Wireless Aircard 595 (EV-DO RevA, EV-DO Rev0, 1xRTT)
• Huawei E612 (WCDMA, GPRS)
• Huawei E620 (HSDPA, WCDMA, EDGE, GPRS)

We hope that the expanded modem support gives you more flexibility for deploying LAN-Cell 2 routers in more locations. Support for additional 3G modems will be added in upcoming firmware releases. If you have a specific modem that you'd like to use that is not on the currently supported modem list, please send us an E-Mail (support@proxicast.com).

Firmware update 4.02(AQP.2)_0310 can be applied to any LAN-Cell 2 unit. Using the LAN-Cell's built-in Web Configurator, go to the MAINTENANCE Menu and then the F/W Upload Tab. The upgrade process will NOT erase your existing configuration settings, however, we recommend that you make a backup of the configuration before upgrading the firmware.
